Tension Erupts In Bengaluru After Miscreants Attack Cows, BJP Announce 'Black Sankranti' Over Govt Inaction

Police sources indicated that the incident took place in Vinayakanagar, and the cows belonged to a local named Karna.

Tension erupted after unidentified people attacked three cows, severing their udders at the Chamarajapet area in Bengaluru, Karnataka on Sunday. Police sources indicated that the incident took place in Vinayakanagar, and the cows belonged to a local named Karna.

According to a report by news agency PTI, residents woke to the distressing cries of cattle. They discovered the injured animals lying in pools of blood, leading to an outrage in the area.

In response to the incident, the BJP announced plans to celebrate 'Black Sankranti' if the government failed to act. "This heinous act reflects a Jihadi mindset. We will observe 'Black Sankranti' if the government fails to take action against the accused persons," Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly R Ashoka said.

He highlighted the cultural and religious importance of cows and bulls, decorated and worshipped during the Sankranti festival. "After this incident, how could we celebrate Sankranti?" Ashoka questioned.

BJP leaders, including Ashoka and party workers, visited the site and offered condolences to the cattle owner. Other leaders, such as the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, and former Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan, also condemned the act.

Home Minister G Parameshwara made an assurance that the police would conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
