He Is Not In Right State Of Mind: BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul On Mukul Roy's 'Want To Be With BJP' Comment

Bengal BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul has said that she doesn't think Mukul Roy is presently in the right state of mind as what he is saying is 'controversial'.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mukul Roy's claims that he resigned from the party and wants to join the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has created a stir in West Bengal's politics. Roy's son has claimed that he was not mentally sound. Now, BJP MLA in Bengal, Agnimitra Paul has joined in the debate as she said that she doesn't think Mukul Roy is presently in the right state of mind as what he is saying is 'controversial'.

She said, "After BJP lost the Bengal elections, we saw Mukul Roy going to the TMC Bhavan and getting himself enrolled in the party's membership list in the presence of Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. His son is saying that he (Mukul Roy) is not mentally stable and we can understand that. I don't think he is in the right state of mind. He should take care of his health."

She said that what Mukul Roy is saying is all 'controversial' and he is a 'pathological' liar like West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. She added that Roy should have changed his Twitter display picture before coming to Delhi as it showed the time when Mamata Banerjee welcomed him in the TMC.

"He should have changed his Twitter picture and bio which clearly said a member of AITC (All India Trinamool Congress). He should get himself checked and I wish him good health," Paul added.

Earlier doctors treating Roy said that he has been suffering from Parkinson's disease and dementia and last month underwent surgery for a neurological disorder. Though he has physically improved, his doctors remained unsure of his mental functioning.

Roy underwent surgery for hydrocephalus, a condition in which fluid accumulates in the brain, which may cause brain damage.

"Mr Roy's (physical) health has improved a lot compared to what it was a month back. He is physically fit to travel, but how much he has regained his mental functioning is yet to be ascertained … dementia can never be totally reversed and there is always a chance it may get worse with age," eminent Neurosurgeon Dr S N Singh, who has been treating the politician for quite some time, told PTI.
