Haryana: 9-Member Congress Delegation Stopped From Visiting Violence-Hit Nuh After Police Deny Nod

Nuh Violence: Haryana police on Tuesday stopped a nine-member congress delegation from visiting the violence-torn region after denying permission for the same.

A Nine-member Congress delegation, which was going to visit violence hit areas in the Nuh district in Haryana, has been stopped by State Police near Rewasan Village. This comes after Police earlier denied permission to the group for a visit citing enforcement of Section 144, reported ANI. The delegation includes party MP Deepender Hooda and state party chief Udai Bhan. Hooda said that the delegation wants to visit Nuh but there's a heavy police deployment in the area.

"Our delegation wants to visit Nuh City, Nalhar Mandir and markets. We want to speak to everyone...There is a lot of Police deployment. Had this been done earlier, there would not have been the clash..," he added.

He further said, "We wanted to meet the people and traders/businessmen of Nuh...We also wanted to meet the victims, heal their wounds and appeal for peace and harmony...When there is a need then the police service isn't present but to stop us they have put buses and blocked the roads..."

Earlier, after the Congress delegation decided to visit Nuh district, SP Nuh, Narendra Bijarniya said, "The permission has been denied because section 144 has been imposed in the district. The administration is making all efforts to help the victims..."

"The work of the administration will be increased if a political visit takes place...The situation is heading towards complete normalcy. To prevent any kind of disruption, we are requesting them to arrange their visit after the situation turns completely normal," he further told the news agency ANI.

According to a statement, "The purpose of this visit is to re-establish peace and brotherhood in the area and find out the truth." Notably, the Congress party has called for a judicial investigation into the Nuh violence under the supervision of a high court judge.

Former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda claimed the violence would not have occurred if the BJP-JJP administration had taken "proper steps" on time and treated the sensitivity of the issue seriously.

He claimed that the administration had been a "complete failure" in carrying out its responsibilities.
