Her body was discovered stuffed inside a suitcase in a locked house, sparking public outrage and a massive police manhunt for the absconding accused. According to initial reports, the minor had been missing for 3 to 4 hours before her body was found. Panic gripped the neighborhood when the child couldn’t be located. One child from the area reportedly told elders they saw the victim heading towards a nearby flat.
Suspicions grew around a locked house in the vicinity. When residents broke open the lock, they made a horrifying discovery — the girl’s body inside a suitcase, partially undressed, with no clothes on her lower half, pointing to a possible sexual assault and took her to the nearby nursing home. According to her father the 9-year-old girl who went out to deliver ice was found raped and murdered in Nehru Vihar. She was discovered semi-naked and bleeding inside a suitcase in a locked house. The family alleges local boys are responsible. Police have filed an FIR and are searching for the accused.
On the complaint of the victim’s family, the police have registered a case against the accused under the POCSO Act and started an investigation. The police have taken possession of the girl’s body and sent it for post-mortem. Eyewitnesses and locals revealed that the girl used to call the suspect "mamu" suggesting a level of trust and familiarity. Some residents also alleged that the individuals believed to be involved were known for selling biryani in the neighborhood.
