CRPF Sub-Inspector Killed, Jawan Injured In Encounter With Naxals In C'garh
A CRPF sub-inspector has been killed while a jawan has been injured in an encounter with Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Sukma.
CRPF sub-inspector Sudhakar Reddy of the 165th Battalion lost his life and constable Ramu was injured in an encounter with Naxalities which broke out on Sunday morning in Chhattisgarh's Sukma, news agency ANI reported.
The police have said, "The injured soldier is being given first aid and has been airlifted for treatment. Four suspects have been taken into custody and intensive searching of the surrounding area is being done by CRPF, Cobra and District Force."
The incident took place when a CRPF team was carrying out an anti-Naxal operation, a police official told PTI, adding that the operation was launched 7 am from Bedre camp towards Ursangal village.
The encounter broke out during the operation which killed Reddy while Ramu sustained bullet inhyries. Four suspecs were nabbed as the exchange of fire stopped and a search operation is underway in the area.
A total of three security personnel have lost their lives Naxal-related incidents in the state's Bastar region in this month.
Chairing a high-level meeting of officials, Chief Minster Vishnu Chai directed to expdite anti-Naxal operations in the state, a statement issued by the state public relations department said.
The chief minister express grief over the incident and paid tributed to the martyred Sub Inspector. He also direced officials to provide proper treatment to the injured constable.
"Naxalites indulge in violence out of frustration. We will win the people's confidence through development (in Naxal-hit areas). We will eliminate Naxalism with the support of the Centre," Sai was quoted as saying in the meeting, as reported by news agency PTI.
Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
