'Neither Happy Nor Unhappy': Giriraj Singh Says Amid Buzz Around Nitish Flip-Flop
Singh, when questioned by reporters, neither expressed approval nor disapproval of the prospect, asserting that decisions regarding alliances are made by the central leadership.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Friday addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding a potential return of the Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), stating that he remains impartial on the matter. Singh, when questioned by reporters, "neither expressed happiness nor unhappiness about the prospect", asserting that decisions regarding alliances are made by the central leadership.
"I am not welcoming nor am I against anyone. It is the decision of the central leadership. Whatever decision they take, I am sure it will be in the interest of the state and the party," Singh told news agency PTI. When asked about his sentiments regarding a potential BJP-JD(U) alliance, he remarked, "I am neither happy nor unhappy. I am a worker of the party, I will abide by whatever decision is taken." Singh criticised the I.N.D.I.A bloc, labelling it an "opportunistic" alliance and asserting that it no longer exists.
"There is no I.N.D.I.A bloc anymore. It was an opportunistic alliance. They were working against Sanatan Dharma, and the Congress was the anchor," he stated. Singh declined to speculate on whether the BJP would benefit from an alliance with the JD(U) in Bihar, stating, "I am not an analyst, I am a worker. A worker's job is to follow the orders of the party".
Meanwhile, JD(U) chief Umesh Singh Kushwaha affirmed the party's commitment to the I.N.D.I.A coalition but urged the Congress to engage in "introspection" regarding alliance dynamics and seat-sharing. Kushwaha explicitly denied rumours of a potential return to the BJP-led NDA.
As the political landscape in Bihar remains uncertain, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has called upon Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to address the ambiguity within the ruling Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance).
RJD Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Kumar Jha stressed the necessity for Kumar to dispel rumours about a potential return to the BJP-led NDA, emphasising the "potential effect on public life in Bihar". Click here to read the full report.
