Bihar: Fire Breaks Out In VIP Guest Room At Bhagalpur Railway Station. No Casualty Reported

Over five fire tenders were rushed to the spot after being informed about the incident and the passengers were shifted to a safe location.

A fire broke out in a VIP guest room at Bhagalpur railway station in Bihar on Sunday afternoon, news agency ANI reported. According to the report, the furniture in the room was gutted. However, no casualty was reported. Over five fire tenders were rushed to the spot after being informed about the incident and the passengers were shifted to a safe location, Railway Officer Satendra Kumar said. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the official added.

While speaking to the media, Kumar said, “The fire was brought under control, and there are no injuries.”

The incident took place just a day after a compartment of a goods train caught fire at Rupsa railway station in Odisha’s Balasore district. A prompt action by fire brigade personnel brought the fire under control and helped avert any untoward incident. The cause of the fire was unknown.

The goods train carrying coal from West Bengal to Balasore was parked at the station when the incident took place, ANI reported. Immediately after the fire was detected in the wagon, the station authorities informed Odisha Fire Service personnel, who reacted swiftly and doused the flames.

"The goods train left for its destination after the fire was brought under control," said railway officials.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the railway security officials took a 20-year-old man from Maharashtra into custody for allegedly trying to set Kannur-Ernakulam Intercity Express on fire on June 6. The incident reportedly took place after the train left Koyilandy station around 4.15 pm.

According to reports, the accused entered the train and attempted to set the train on fire. However, the passengers immediately caught him and handed him over to the railway officials.

A Railway official told PTI, "No one was injured. The man appeared to be mentally unsound."
