Andhra Man Rescued From Camel Herding In Saudi Arabia Returns Home With Minister's Help

Sarella Veerendra Kumar, hailing from Ambedkar Konaseema district, arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, where he was warmly welcomed by his family members.

A man from Andhra Pradesh, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia and forced to work as a camel herder, returned home on Friday thanks to the intervention of state Human Resource Development and IT Minister Nara Lokesh. Sarella Veerendra Kumar, hailing from Ambedkar Konaseema district, arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, where he was warmly welcomed by his family members. Veerendra expressed his gratitude to Minister Lokesh and the TOP NRI Forum for safely bringing him back home.

Minister Lokesh had directed the NRI Forum to assist Veerendra after he posted a selfie video on social media highlighting his plight. Veerendra Kumar, a native of Isukapudi village in Ambajupeta mandal of Ambedkar Konaseema district, revealed that he had been cheated by an agent who had promised him a job in Qatar. After landing in Qatar on July 10, he was instead sent to Saudi Arabia, according to a report on IANS.

In his video, Veerendra complained about being forced to work as a camel herder in the desert without basic amenities. He mentioned that he was unable to endure the harsh weather conditions and appealed to the minister for help, fearing for his life.

The minister promptly responded to Veerendra Kumar's post, assuring him of his safe return. "Veerendra, we will bring you back home safely! Don't worry!" the minister posted.

On Friday, the Minister said, "As promised, Veerendra will be brought back to India safely."
