India is still waiting for its second medal at the prestigious competition after Anju Bobby George bagged a bronze medal in Paris World Athletics Championships 2003 in the long-Jump event. This time around, India is banking on Neeraj Chopra as he is arguable the biggest medal prospect at the World Athletics Championships 2022.

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold-medallist will be participating in the Men’s Javelin Throw event. Neeraj had recently set his new personal best record at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland, with a throw of 89.30m in his 2nd competition throw since the Tokyo Olympics. Neeraj, in the process, also rewrote the national record. He placed second behind Oliver Helander Oulun Pyrintö of Finland, who threw 89.83m.

Neeraj will be aiming to script history by adding a World Championship medal to his resume as he gears up for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in 2022 Birmingham.
