WATCH: Ronaldo In Tears After Portugal Lose Qualifier, Fans Remember Disallowed Goal From Previous Leg

FIFA World Cup Qualification Round 1: Ronaldo in tears after Portugal lose the golden opportunity of direct qualification in Qatar WC 2022. Watch the video below.

Portugal and Manchester United ace, Cristiano Ronaldo was in tears after Portugal lost to Serbia in a World Cup Qualification match. Portugal has now missed a chance to directly qualify for the FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022.

Cristiano Ronaldo got emotional at full-time as Serbia beat Portugal by 1-2. The Man United striker sat on the pitch in disarray as his team lost a golden opportunity to directly qualify for the FIFA WC, set to take place next year.

Football fans remembered a clear Cristiano Ronaldo goal that was disallowed in the same fixture that took place in March 2021. Had that goal been given, Portugal would have qualified ahead of Serbia on goal difference. FIFA does not use VAR or goal-line technology in qualifiers, thus the goal never stood.

Portugal can still qualify for the FIFA Qatar World Cup, but not before they play in another qualification round.

Also take a look at the Cristiano Ronaldo goal that was disallowed in March 2021:

Serbia won the match courtesy of two goals by Mitrovic and Tadic. However, Portugal lead 1-0 for the first 32 minutes of the match. It's a tricky road ahead now, for Portugal. They will have to win two separate playoffs matches.
