'When Virat Kohli Gets Fifty, It Seems He Has Failed': Mohammed Azharuddin
Fans and cricket lovers all across the world have been eagerly waiting for Virat Kohli to score his career's 71st international ton.
New Delhi: Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli has been facing a lot of criticism for his dismal form in Indian Premier League (IPL) and international cricket. The last time Virat Kohli scored a century in international cricket was in November 2019. Fans and cricket lovers all across the world have been eagerly waiting for Virat to score his career's 71st international ton. Notably, Virat hasn't been able to get a ton in last two and a half years, but he has definitely scored half-centuries on some important occasions.
Former India cricketer and captain Mohammad Azharuddin believes that people's expectations from Virat have increased a lot. The cricketer-turned-administrator asserted that even a fifty from Kohli seems like he has failed. The veteran also expressed confidence that Virat Kohli will return to form on India's tour of England.
“When Kohli gets a 50, it seems he has failed, of course, he has not done much this year. Everybody, even the best, goes through a bad phase in their careers. Kohli has been playing a lot of cricket and now that he has got a little break, hopefully, he will come back to form in England,” Mohammed Azharuddin said on GulfNews.
Azhar said, “There’s nothing wrong with Kohli’s technique, sometimes you need a bit of luck also. One big score or a century will bring the aggression back and he will be a different player.”
Mohammed Azharuddin also hailed Gujarat Titans (GT) skipper Hardik Pandya for his heroic match-winning spell in IPL 2022 final against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Azhar said, “Pandya is a good talent and as an all-rounder of repute, it is important that he bowls his overs. He completely changed the game with his three wickets in four overs in the final against Rajasthan. He has the ability and has done well for India, but he was not able to be with the team consistently due to the injury.”
