'Will Stop Drinking Immediately If Told To Do So': Vinod Kambli Makes Emotional Appeal To MCA
An emotional Vinod Kambli appealed to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he will stop drinking alcohol immediately if the job requires him to do so.
New Delhi: Vinod Kambli, the talented Mumbai batsman who made his debut with the legend 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar in the Indian cricket team, is struggling with financial issues. The only source of his earnings remains the retirement pension given to him by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Kambli has himself revealed that he's currently dealing with financial constraints, and is looking for work.
Now, in a rather very sensational claim, an emotional Kambli appealed to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he will stop drinking alcohol immediately if the job requires him to do so. The former India batter even said that he drinks occasionally and is not an addict or a regular alcohol drinker.
"There are rules and regulations which everyone has to follow. If there are any rules that don’t allow you to do certain things, everyone must follow them. I will stop it [drinking] immediately if told to do so...no problem at all!," said Kambli to Mid-Day.
"I came into the CIC [Cricket Improvement Committee], but it was an honorary job. I went to the MCA for some help. I have a family to look after. I told the MCA many times that if you require me, I am there whether it is at the Wankhede Stadium or at BKC. Mumbai cricket has given me a lot. I owe my life to this game," he added.
Born on 18 January 1972 in Mumbai, Vinod Kambli and Sachin Tendulkar had same mentor, late Ramakant Achrekar. According to media reports, Vinod Kambli's net worth is between 1 to 1.5 million dollars. In 2022, his annual income reportedly remains only Rs 4 lakh which is insufficient for living in the financial capital of the country. Kambli owns a house in Mumbai and reportedly has a Range Rover car.
