New Delhi: In a fitting farewell to 'king of spin', ex-Aussie cricketer Shane Warne's last rites will be performed with state honours at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in next two to three weeks, PTI quoted several media reports as saying. Around one lakh people are expected to gather for the state funeral.

It was at the iconic MCG in 1994 when Shane Warne had picked a hat-trick in the Boxing Day Test against England. PTI also reported that a public condolence meeting will be held after Warne's state funeral.

Warne's manager James Erskine is yet to officially confirm whether Warne's funeral would take place at the MCG or not, but he told 'The Age', 'Where else?' According to the 'Herald Sun', Warne's funeral will take place in two or three weeks and all arrangements will be made at the MCG.

Warne's statue has been installed outside the MCG ground and his fans have been inundated here since his death. MCG's Southern Stand has been named SK Warne Stand to give a fitting tribute to the Aussie legend.

On the day of Warner's death, ex-Aussie wicketkeeper batter Rodney Marsh had also passed away. The Government of Western Australia has decided to perform his last rites too with state honors.
