Sam Northeast Joins Elite List Of Batters To Smash Highest Score In First-Class Cricket

Sam Northeast has become the first batsman to reach the 400-run mark for Glamorgan. The team's final score of 795/5d is also the highest score in county history.

New Delhi: Glamorgan batsman Sam Northeast on Saturday created history in first-class cricket by scoring over 400 runs. The stylish batter scored the ninth highest score ever attained in first-class cricket. He scored an unbeaten 410 off 450 balls in the match against Leicestershire with help of 45 fours and three huge sixes. This is now the highest individual score in the 21st century and ninth on the all-time list in first-class cricket. Northeast is the ninth batter to reach the 400-run mark in a first-class inning. Thanks to brilliant innings from Northeast, Glamorgan managed to declare their innings at a mammoth 795/5 -- highest individual score in first-class cricket. 

The right-handed batter is yet to represent England in any of the three formats of international cricket since making his debut in 2007. However, the 32-year-old's hunger to score runs is not over. Sam caught everyone's attention with an unbeaten 410 in Glamorgan's match against Leicestershire in the County Championship Division 2 at Grace Road in Leicester.

Northeast also now has the highest individual score in Welsh's county cricket. Lara is regarded as one of the best batters ever to walk on the face of this planet. The star batter still holds the all-time record for scoring the highest individual score in first-class cricket. Lara's 501 not out for Warwickshire against Durham in 1994 is still intact.
