Premier League: Manchester United Vs Brighton Called Off Due To Covid Outbreak In ManU Camp

Man United Covid Outbreak: Reports suggest that United coach Ralf Rangnick had 'only nine players' to play with on Saturday's game against Brighton.

The Covid-19 situation has intensified in the Premier League as Manchester United vs Brighton match got postponed. Two back-to-back Manchester United games got canceled due to the increased number of Covid-19 cases in the United camp.

A Sky Sports report says that Man United coach Ralf Rangnick had 'only nine players' to play with on Saturday's game against Brighton.

"Manchester United can confirm that our Premier League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion, scheduled for Saturday 18 December at 12:30 GMT, has been postponed and will be rescheduled in due course," read a statement from Manchester United.

"The health of players and staff is our priority. Given the number of players and support staff having to isolate due to COVID-19, the club had no option other than to request the match be rearranged. The Premier League Board took the decision to postpone based on guidance from medical advisors," the statement added.

No Training At Old Trafford For The Time Being

"We will also suspend football training operations at the Carrington Training Complex for a short period to help reduce risk of further transmission," said the statement.

Last PL week, Brentford vs Manchester United and Brighton vs Tottenham matches were postponed by the League. United made a request to postpone the match after some staff and four players returned being Covid positive after a weekend game against Norwich City.

The number of Omicron cases in the United Kingdom was a cause of concern. The number of daily Omicron infections in the UK has been estimated as being at 200,000, according to the UK Health Security Agency.
