India At Paris Olympics 2024: PV Sindhu will be India's Flag Bearer for the Paris Olympics 2024 along with tennis star Sharath Kamal. Gagan Narang will serve as Chef-de-Mission for the Indian team.
India At Paris Olympics 2024: Indian shuttler PV Sindhu, along with tennis star Sharath Kamal, is all set to be India's Flag Bearer at Paris Olympics 2024. The official confirmation and announcement of the decision came on July 8 (Monday), via Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President PT Usha. Last time around, it was the Indian boxing legend Mary Kom and men's hockey player Manpreet Singh that got the honour of being India's flag bearer at Tokyo Olympics 2020 and this time, it's the Indian badminton legend and the tennis maestro who will be getting the honour. Gagan Narang, a four-time Olympian and bronze medalist in the 2012 men’s 10m Air Rifle event, has been appointed as the Chef-de-Mission for the Indian contingent at the upcoming Paris Olympics.

The decision seems immensely perfect, as PV Sindhu is the only Indian athlete to win an individual medal at the Olympics on two different occasions (silver medal at Rio Olympics 2016, bronze medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020). However, PV Sindhu will not be the only flag bearer at the Games, as table tennis veteran Sharath Kamal will be the co-flag bearer alongside her.
IOA's Official Press Release On PV Sindhu, Sharath Kamal Being Named As Flag-Bearers At Paris Olympics 2024
"Gagan Narang, four-time Olympian and 2012 Olympic Games men's 10m Air Rifle bronze medalist, has been chosen to replace MC Mary Kom as the Chef-de-Mission of the Indian contingent to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games beginning on July 26."
"Indian Olympic Association President Dr. PT Usha today said the 41-year-old Gagan Narang's elevation from Deputy Chef-de-Mission's position was an automatic choice in the wake of Mary Kom's resignation. "I was looking for an Olympic medalist to lead our contingent and my young colleague is an apt replacement for Mary Kom," she said."
"I am also delighted to announce that India's only woman to win two Olympic medals, PV Sindhu, as the female Flag-bearer alongside Table Tennis ace A. Sharath Kamal in the opening ceremony," Dr. Usha said. "I am confident that our athletes are well prepared to deliver the best results for India in Paris 2024 Olympic Games."
