NZ U19 vs BAN U19, ICC WC Semis: Mahmudul Hasan's Ton Powers Bangladesh To 6-wicket Win, Secure Final Berth
It will be an all sub continent final at the ICC Under 19 World Cup after Bangladesh secured their place in the title clash beating New Zealand by 6 wickets in second semis.
New Delhi: Bangladesh defeated New Zealand by 6 wickets in the second Super semifinal to book their maiden berth in the finals of the ICC Under 19 World Cup played at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom. After restricting New Zealand to 211-8 in their 50 overs, the Asian side did not break much sweat and chased down the target in 44.1 overs.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy powered the Bangladeshi chase with a stellar hundred with Shahadat Hossain and Towhid Hridoy chipping in with useful knock of 40 each. The Asian team were in a spot of bother when they lost two early wickets up front with openers falling early to some disciplined bowling by the Kiwis. Bangladesh have gone past their best effort in the showpiece event as they made it to the semifinals in the 2016 edition of the tournament. The 'Bangla Tigers' had beaten South Africa by 104 runs to make it to the semifinals.
Bangladesh will face defending champions India who made it to the finals for the third straight time beating Pakistan by 10 wickets in the first semifinals to played on Febraury 9.
