MUN Vs ARS: Cristiano Ronaldo's 800th Goal Marks Man United's Classic Comeback Against Gunners After Controversial Goal

Premier League: The penalty kick was Ronaldo's 801st goal. He has scored 5 goals with Sporting, 129 with Man United, 450 with Real Madrid, 101 with Juventus, and 115 with Portugal.

Manchester United vs Arsenal is one of the most followed football fixtures around the world. The latest Premier League game did not disappoint the fans one bit as the match went from 0-1 to 3-2 in a classic Manchester United style comeback. Cristiano Ronaldo's two goals once again asserted his importance in the side after a spell of goal-less games at Old Trafford for the Portuguese.

Ronaldo scored his 800th overall goal against Arsenal on Friday.

The match began with an extremely controversial goal as Arsenal was on the score sheet in the 13th minute after a goal by Smith-Rowe. The goal came after an Arsenal corner was deflected back to the edge of the box, but not before De Gea going down injured. The referee blew the whistle as De Gea stayed on the ground, but only after the ball had gone into the net. The goal which wasn't given at first was called after watching the replay where it was clear that De Gea had gone down due to a deflection from his own teammate Fred, thus VAR stepped in and the goal stood.

Take a look at the controversial goal here:

After this goal, there was a sense of injustice among United fans, but Bruno Fernandes equalised just at the brink of the first half. The second half was all about the momentum going from one end to another like a pendulum. Cristiano Ronaldo put United in lead in the 52nd minute but Odegaard's goal put Arsenal back in the game.

The match was sealed after Cristiano Ronaldo took a straight penalty in the 70th minute.

The penalty kick was Ronaldo's 801st goal. He has scored 5 goals with Sporting, 129 with Man United, 450 with Real Madrid, 101 with Juventus, and 115 with Portugal.

This match marked the end of Michael Carrick's United career. He was a club legend winning five Premier League trophies. His term as a caretaker manager also ended well with a win against Arsenal.

Ralf Rangnick will take charge of the Manchester United team from the next match against Crystal Palace.
