A major flashpoint of the Dodgers World Series win was them clinching the title amidst their red-headed star Justin Turner pulling out from the series clinching Game 6 after being confirmed positive for Covid-19.
Commissioner Rob Manfred confirmed Turner’s positive test moments after presenting the World Series trophy to Los Angeles.
Dodgers has come strikingly close to winning the coveted title, reaching the summit clash in three of the last four season but ended up as the losing finalist in all the summit clashes. Their most controversial loss came in the 2017 edition of the World Series finals to Houston Astros where the eventual champions were alleged of cheating in the finals by using illegal technology to steal signs and relay upcoming pitches to Astros batters. Dodgers also happened to be the first MLB World Series champion in the Covid-19 era post the pandemic shortening the regular season from the usual 162-games to just 60. In the new bio secure norm amid the coronavirus pandemic, the regular season games were played in teams' home stadiums and generally without fans with the exception of some games. Teams traveled and used their own home stadiums, with the exception of Canada's Toronto Blue Jays, who had to move to Buffalo, New York, in order to play this season. This was their year. #WorldSeries pic.twitter.com/x8T2139Eew
