Kylian Mbappe's 2-Word Reaction To FIFA World Cup Final Defeat Goes Viral

Mbappe scored a hat-trick on the grandest stage of all and kept his team alive, forcing the match into the Penalty Shootouts after France were nowhere in the game for the first 80 minutes.

Even though it was a fairytale end to Lionel Messi's wait for a FIFA World Cup trophy, there was one Frenchman too who managed to script history. This was none other than the soon to be 24-year-old Kylian Mbappe. The youngster scored a hat-trick on the grandest stage of all and kept his team alive, forcing the match into the Penalty Shootouts after France were nowhere in the game for the first 80 minutes. 

However, all his effort went in vain as the Les Blues lost 2-4 in the penalty shootout and it was Argentina who were crowned the champions. Following their defeat, a heartbreaking image for all Mbappe and France fans went viral on social media as Mbappe, the golden boot award winner with 8 goals in the competition, walked past the World Cup trophy looking down and disappointed.

And now Mbappe has finally broken his silence on social media, sharing the same picture but responding to the defeat with just a 2-worded tweet. The Paris Saint-Germain forward simply wrote: "Nous reviendrons" which is the French equivalent of "We will return."

France miss out on a historic achievement

France were on the verge of a historic achievement as they entered a second successive World Cup final and could have become only the third team after Italy and Brazil to have successfully defended their crown and the first one to do so since 1962.

But that wasn't to be on Sunday (December, 8). France's defeat also broke European teams' dominance in the FIFA World Cup since the 2002 edition as Argentina became only the second South American team to win the FIFA World Cup in the 21st century. Previously, Brazil had won the competition in 2002. All the remaining editions in between have been won by European footballing giants.
