RCB Would Have Won 3 IPL Trophies By Now If MS Dhoni Was Their Captain: Wasim Akram
In a 'What If' segment of an interview, Wasim Akram was quizzed what would happen if MS Dhoni was the skipper of RCB.
Former Pakistan speedster Wasim Akram has made a massive statement while sharing his views on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise of the Indian Premier League. He reckons that had MS Dhoni, who is the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) been the skipper of the RCB side, the team would have lifted three IPL trophies. He reckons the calm that Dhoni brings into the dressing room and his ability to impart confidence in his players would have really benefited RCB who are still chasing their maiden title.
Akram made this remark while interacting with Sportskeeda Cricket. In the 'What If' segment of this conversation, the ex-Pakistan captain was quizzed what would happen if Dhoni was the skipper of RCB. It is pertinent to note that Dhoni has already CSK to four-titles in the IPL while Bangalore which was led by Virat Kohli for a long time before Faf du Plessis took over haven't lifted the trophy yet.
"RCB would have won 3 IPL trophies by now if MS Dhoni was their captain. They have not won a single trophy until now. They have so much support. Also, they have the world's top modern-era player Virat, but unfortunately they have not won. If Dhoni was in RCB, he would have helped them win the title," Akram told Sportskeeda.
"Dhoni has a habit of captaining a team. Captaincy is also a habit. Even Virat would have been habituated by now, but Dhoni has had this habit. He is not calm from inside, but he shows that he is calm," he added.
"When players see that their captain is chilled, keeps his hand on their shoulders, players become more confident. Dhoni is someone who knows to instill confidence in his players," the left-armer stated.
In the 2023 edition of the IPL, CSK are currently placed second on the points table with 13 points from 11 matches. RCB, meanwhile, are at the fifth position with 10 points to their credit which they have accumulated with the help of 5 wins and as many defeats.
