The IPL 2025, Match 21 produced a nail-biting finish, as a late surge from MI did give RCB a scare, but eventually, they prevailed with a 12-run win, which now takes them to 6 points in 4 games.

MI won the coin toss and elected to bowl first on a Wankhede surface, that promised a batting paradise for both sides. The home side, boosted by Jasprit Bumrah's return, were expected to inflict early jitters on RCB, and their plan worked, as Phil Salt departed on the second ball of the match, at the hands of Trent Boult.

What followed later was pure mayhem from Virat Kohli, who continued to counter-punch with constant boundaries. Seeing his partner score runs at will, a struggling Devdutt Paddikal found his golden hour, as the left-handed batter smashed Deepak Chahar to guide RCB past 70 runs-mark at the end of the powerplay.

Devdutt Paddikal departed for 37, but the wicket did not stop RCB's juggernaut, as captain Rajat Patidar and Virat Kohli combined for 48 runs before the departure of the latter, who made a brilliant 67 off 42 balls.

Liam Livingstone too, failed to perform, as he deaprted without troubling the scorers, but the death overs belonged to RCB, as they plundered 70+ runs in the last 5 overs to end their innings at 221/5.

In reply, MI were off a troubled start, as openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton failed once again to shine for the side, as Yash Dayal and Josh Hazlewood provided RCB a strong start.

Suryakumar Yadav and Will Jacks took their time, but failed to capitalise their starts into a big score, as the game looked well-and-truly done, until Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma decided to turn the tables and put MI in a comfortable position.

Their late heroics went in drain, as RCB bolwers held their nerves to restrict MI to 209/9 at the end of their innings.
