My Leg Has Healed But Will Take Number Of Months Before I'm 100 Per Cent Fit: RCB Star Glenn Maxwell

IPL 2023: Notably, Maxwell is returning to cricket action after a surgery and rehabilitation.

Ahead of the sixteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore star Glenn Maxwell has said that while his left leg has healed, he is still a few months away from getting full fit. It is pertinent to note that the star all-rounder had broken his left fibula in an accident at a friend's birthday party days after Australia were knocked out of the T20 World Cup 2022.

The injuries that he sustained forced him to undergo a surgery and a prolonged period of rehabilitation. The ODI series against India was Maxwell's return to competitive cricket and now he will play for the Bangalore franchise in the IPL which kicks off on March 31.

Notably, IPL is returning to its home and away format this year which means RCB will also get to play matches at their home stadium- the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore after almost two years and Maxwell said he was excited to play in front of home crowd.

“The leg’s okay. It’s going to be a number of months before I’m 100 per cent,” he said in a video uploaded on RCB's social media handle.

“Hopefully it’s (leg) good enough to get through the tournament and still do the job.”

“Finally getting back after a couple of years (of playing inside bio-bubbles). It’s pretty exciting and I’m pretty pumped to play in front of our home fans,” the 34-year-old added.

Bangalore will begin their IPL campaign with a match against the most successful team in the tournament Mumbai Indians at their home on April 2. While RCB did manage to secure a place in the Playoffs last time around, their dream of lifting the trophy still remained a dream as they were knocked out by Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2.

This year they would once start afresh to try and win that elusive cup.
