WATCH: MS Dhoni's Tactical Genius Helps Deepak Chahar Dismiss Rohit Sharma In CSK vs MI
The plan worked as Rohit was looking to play a lap shot but miscued it completely and hit it straight towards Ravindra Jadeja who was standing at the backward point.
India’s legendary player MS Dhoni is considered as one of the sharpest minds in the cricketing world. He is known for his quick decision-making abilities on the field and has an astute understanding of the game.
It was once again evident during the match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians when the former India skipper trapped Mumbai’s captain Rohit Sharma. The incident took place in the third over of MI’s innings when Dhoni changed the field the moment Rohit came out to bat at number three. The CSK skipper decided to put a fielder at the backward point, a short third, and a slip, and Dhoni also came closer to the stumps as Deepak Chahar was handed over the ball.

“Great move from MS Dhoni to stand up early on the innings to Rohit Sharma & it worked for him,” said commentator Sanjay Manjrekar.
Earlier, Dhoni won the toss and decided to field first against Mumbai Indians on Saturday. Mumbai Indians coming into this clash made a few changes as left-arm spinner Raghav Goyal and Tristan Stubbs came in place of Kumar Kartikeya and Tilak Varma while CSK stepped on the field unchanged. The Mumbai-based franchise ended up making 139 for 8, with skipper Rohit failing to deliver again as he was sent to the pavilion for a duck. Nehal Wadhera played a terrific knock of 64 off 51 balls and helped Mumbai put on a decent total.
For CSK, speedsters Deepak Chahar picked up 2 wickets for 18 runs in 3 overs, Tushar Deshpande took 2/26 in 4 overs, and Matheesha Pathirana scalped 3/15 in 4 overs and restricted Mumbai to just 139 runs.
