This marked Mumbai Indians' fifth consecutive win in the ongoing season and it propelled them to the second spot on the IPL 2025 points table. Meanwhile, LSG faced their fifth loss of the season and received a dent to their playoffs qualification chances.

MI posted a competitive total of 215/7, thanks to some key contributions with the bat.

Opener Ryan Rickelton set the tone with a blistering 32-ball 58 runs knock, while Suryakumar Yadav continued his sensational run of form with another crucial knock (58 runs off 28 balls), becoming the highest run-scorer of the season. Cameos from Naman Dhir and Corbin Bosch further propelled MI over the 200-run mark.

In reply, LSG got off to a rocky start, losing their in-form batter Aiden Markram early in the powerplay. Nicholas Pooran (27), Mitchell Marsh (34) and Ayush Badoni (35) looked to provide resistance with some aggressive strokes, but they were dismissed after getting positive starts. The rest of the LSG batting line-up struggled to capitalize, and MI continued to chip away at the wickets.
