Mayank Yadav Makes Long-Awaited Comeback In MI vs LSG IPL 2025 Match After Injury Layoff

Mayank Yadav made his competitive cricket comeback for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians (MI).

This marked Mayank's first competitive appearance since India's T20I series against Bangladesh in October 2024.

Express pacer Mayank Yadav made his much-anticipated return to professional cricket during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on April 27 (Sunday). This marked his first competitive appearance since India's T20I series against Bangladesh in October 2024, following a prolonged recovery from back and toe injuries.

After winning the toss, Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant announced that Shardul Thakur made way for Mayank Yadav in the MI vs LSG match. “We are bowling first. In a day game you want to utilize the surface. We are in a good space and personally Its easier to put the team ahead, makes it easier. Eventually you want to play good cricket and take everyday as your first day. One change. Shardul is out and Mayank Yadav is in,” Pant said at toss.

Yadav was handed the new ball in the MI vs LSG clash, opening the bowling with a tidy first over that went for just six runs. However, in his second over — the team’s third — Rohit Sharma took him on, hitting two consecutive sixes. Despite the early assault, the young pacer bounced back brilliantly, dismissing Rohit for 12 as the batter edged one to the short third man.

Renowned for his blistering pace, having clocked speeds up to 156.7 kmph, his presence strengthens LSG’s bowling attack. His comeback was highly anticipated, particularly after being listed among the 'Impact Player' options in earlier matches without getting an opportunity to bowl.
