Jasprit Bumrah Wanted To Immigrate To Canada, Reveals MI Pacer's Wife
Jasprit Bumrah, who hails from Gujarat, wanted to move to Canada for better opportunities before he was roped in by Mumbai Indians (MI) for the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as one of India's greatest fast bowling weapons. The Mumbai Indians (MI) pacer not only spearheads the fast bowling department for his franchise but has also become of the country's greatest match winners across formats. It helped that his entry into the Indian cricket team coincinded with a time in which the pace bowling unit was gradully becoming one of the team's forte.
In contemporary times, not too many teams can boast of having a better pace attack than India's with Bumrah's name surely on everyone's lips. Be it with the new ball or in the middle or end overs, the 30-year-old has been effective in all the phases of the game. However, in an interesting piece of revelation, the MI speedsters' wife Sanjana disclosed that at one point Bumrah had plans in place of immigrating to Canada from Gujarat.
"You wanted to go to Canada and set up a new life there?"she asked the fast bowler on JioCinema.
"We have had these conversations before. Every boy wants to make it big and play cricket. Every street has 25 players who want to play for India. You have to have a backup plan. Our relative lives there. I though I will finish my education and...my uncle lives there. First we though we would go as a family, then my mum did not want to go there as it's a different culture. I am very happy and very lucky that things worked out, Otherwise I don't know I would have tried to play for the Canadian team and do something there as well. Glad it worked out here. I am playing for the Indian team and Mumbai Indians," Bumrah added.
Jasprit Bumrah In Great Form In IPL 2024
Along expected lines, Bumrah has been in fine form in IPL 2024. In 4 innings so far, he has taken 6 wickets at an exceptional economy of 6.12 which has set him apart from the rest of the bowlers. MI take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) later this evening (April 11) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
