At the IPL 2025 mega auction, MI initially bid for Kishan at his base price of Rs 2 crore but stopped at ₹3.20 crore. Delhi Capitals, in need of a wicketkeeper-batter after not retaining Rishabh Pant, engaged in a fierce bidding battle with Punjab Kings. However, it was SRH who entered the fray late and secured his services for Rs 11.25 crore.
