Indian pacer Siddarth Kaul, a member of the Virat Kohli-led U-19 World Cup-winning team in 2008, has announced his retirement from cricket in India. Kaul, who debuted for India in 2018, played three ODIs and two T20Is, claiming a total of four wickets. The 34-year-old ends his career with an impressive record across formats in domestic cricket. Having represented Punjab in 88 first-class matches, taking 297 wickets at an average of 26.77, including 17 five-wicket hauls. Kaul also took 199 wickets in 111 List A games and 182 wickets in 145 T20 matches.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kaul took 58 wickets in 55 matches, representing Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with his best phase coming for the Hyderabad-based franchise (2017-2021) as a key bowler. Recently, he was part of Punjab's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy-winning team and also had a brief County Championship stint with Northamptonshire.

Notably, he was India's leading wicket-taker during their victorious 2008 U19 World Cup campaign under Kohli's captaincy in Malaysia.

Siddarth Kaul Reflects On His Cricket Career With Gratitude

Kaul announced his retirement from Indian cricket through an emotional social media post, reflecting on his journey from dreaming of representing India as a child to achieving it in 2018.

“When I was a child playing cricket in the fields in Punjab, I had one dream. A dream to represent my country. In 2018, by Gods grace, I received my India Cap Number 75 in the T20i team and Cap Number 221 in the ODI team. The time has now come to call time on my career in India and announce my retirement,” Kaul wrote.

“Words cannot express my gratitude for the love and support I have received through all the highs and lows of my career. I want to thank God for the path that has been made for me; the fans for the endless support; my parents and family for the sacrifices and confidence you have given me, especially during the injuries and lows; my teammates over the years for the dressing room memories and friendships; the BCCI for fulfilling a young child’s dream to represent India and win the 2008 Under-19 World Cup and receive my T20i and ODI caps in 2018!”

Kaul also expressed gratitude to IPL franchises he was part of during his IPL stint for memories, and to the Punjab Cricket Association for supporting his career since his First-Class debut in 2007.

“Kolkata Knight Riders , Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL franchises for giving me memories of a lifetime; and last but not least, the @pcacricketassociation for giving me an opportunity to make my First Class debut in 2007 and supporting me throughout my career. Without all your support I would not be the person I am today. I don’t know what the future holds but I look back on this chapter with only fond memories and now on to the next chapter. Once again, thank you Siddharthh Kaul (Sid Kaul),” Kaul added further.
