IPL 2025 Auction: 641.5 Crore Up for Grabs – Which Team Holds Biggest Purse?

IPL 2025: Here's a breakdown of the remaining purse for each team ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Auction.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Auction is set to take place on November 24 and 25, featuring 574 players shortlisted by 10 participating teams. The IPL 2025 Auction pool includes 12 marquee players (cricketers with Rs 2 crore base price) such as Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer, all expected to fetch record-breaking bids.

Alongside the big names, many young talents are expected to attain life-changing contracts. Here's a breakdown of the remaining purse for each team ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Auction.

Each IPL team was allocated Rs 120 crore to build their squads for 2025 IPL season. Ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Auction, franchises collectively retained 46 players at a cost of Rs 230.45 crore.

This leaves a remaining pool of Rs 641.5 crore to bid on a maximum of 204 players. By comparison, the previous mega auction of Indian Premier League (IPL), which was for the 2022 edition, saw franchises spend Rs 551.7 crore.

Punjab Kings have the largest remaining purse at Rs 110 crore, providing them with leverage to bid for marquee players. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals, having retained six players, have only Rs 41 crore left to complete their squad.

Chennai Super Kings: Rs 55 crore (5 players retained)
Lucknow Super Giants: Rs 69 crore (5 players retained)
Gujarat Titans: Rs 69 crore (5 players retained)
Delhi Capitals: Rs 76.25 crore (4 players retained)
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Rs 83 crore (3 players retained)
Punjab Kings: Rs 110.5 crore (2 players retained)

IPL 2025 Auction: Marquee players announced

Jos Buttler, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, David Miller, KL Rahul, Kagiso Rabada, Liam Livingstone, Rishabh Pant, Mitchell Starc, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, and Shreyas Iyer are the players that form marquee set for IPL 2025 Auction.

BCCI has communicated to franchises that the marquee players will be divided into two sets, each comprising six players. While having multiple marquee sets isn't new, there was only one in the last mega auction in 2022. 

Set 1 marquee players: Jos Buttler, Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Rishabh Pant, Mitchell Starc, Shreyas Iyer

Set 2 marquee players: Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, David Miller, KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Liam Livingstone
