IPL 2025: Rinku Singh Reveals Crucial Advice He Received From MS Dhoni

Rinku Singh discusses his IPL 2025 role amidst KKR’s struggles in the season and also revealed an advice that he received from MS Dhoni.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have struggled in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, managing only three wins and suffering five losses so far. They are currently placed seventh on the IPL 2025 points table with a net run rate (NRR) of +0.212. To secure a spot in the playoffs without depending on other results, KKR must win all of their remaining six matches. Ahead of their encounter against Punjab Kings on April 26, key player Rinku Singh opened up on his role in the KKR batting order and also shared advice he received from MS Dhoni.

In IPL 2025, Rinku has drawn criticism for his disappointing performance in IPL 2025, managing just 133 runs across eight matches with a strike rate of 146.15 and an average of 33.25. Rinku’s subpar form has coincided with KKR’s struggles, as the former champions find themselves at the seventh spot with just three wins.

In an exclusive chat with JioHotstar, Rinku said he is used to batting at No. 5 or 6, focuses heavily on fitness to stay consistent through the IPL season, and often takes advice from MS Dhoni, who urges him to stay calm and play according to the situation.

“I usually bat at No. 5 or 6 — I’ve done that for UP and in the IPL, so I’m used to it. I focus a lot on fitness because with 14 matches in the IPL, it’s my responsibility to maintain my body and recover well. I also speak to Mahi Bhai often — he tells me to stay calm and play according to the match situation. Things fall into place when you stay composed,” Rinku said while speaking exclusively to JioHotstar.

Rinku believes that scoring 300 runs in a match is possible in IPL 2025, citing Punjab's chase of 262 runs last year and noting that all teams are strong this season, making such a feat achievable.

“Yes, we can do it. IPL has reached a stage where even 300 is possible; last year, Punjab chased a total of 262 runs. All teams are strong this season—anyone can get to 300,” Rinku said.
