IPL 2025: RCB Beat CSK By 2 Runs In Bengaluru, Move Closer To Securing Playoffs Berth

RCB defeated CSK by 2 runs to move atop the IPL 2025 points table.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by two runs in the 52nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on May 3 (Saturday). With the win RCB accumulated 16 points in 11 matches putting one leg in the IPL 2025 playoffs. With three matches still to go, they would back themselves to confirm their place in the final four.

Yash Dayal held his nerve in a dramatic final over, defending 15 runs and helping RCB clinch a thrilling 2-run win over CSK. Bowling to MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube, Dayal conceded a no-ball six to Dube, but bounced back with key dot and single deliveries. He dismissed Dhoni LBW on the third ball, a pivotal moment, before holding CSK to just singles off the last two balls. With 4 needed off the final delivery, Dube could only manage a single to long-on, sparking wild RCB celebrations as Dayal became the hero in a pressure-packed finish against CSK.

The innings gained late momentum thanks to a blistering 14-ball 53* from Romario Shepherd, who lifted the side after a brief slump in the middle overs.

In response, CSK got off to a strong start as Ayush Mhatre and Shaik Rasheed stitched a 51-run opening stand. Mhatre led the charge with a brilliant 94 off 48 balls, and Ravindra Jadeja added an unbeaten 77 off 45 deliveries to bring CSK within touching distance of the target. However, RCB’s Yash Dayal held his nerve in a tense final over, defending 15 runs to secure a thrilling win — RCB’s eighth of the season.
