Delhi Capitals (DC) secured Harry Brook for Rs 6.25 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, with his withdrawal, Delhi now faces the challenge of finding a suitable replacement. Brook's apology & social media statement
On March 9, Harry Brook took to social media to announce his decision, apologizing to Delhi Capitals and their fans. He described it as a difficult choice but emphasized his commitment to prioritizing his England career at this stage.

"I have made the very difficult decision to pull out of the upcoming IPL. I apologize unreservedly to the Delhi Capitals and their supporters," Brook wrote on social media.
"It is a really important time for England cricket and I want to fully commit to preparing for the upcoming series.
"In order to do this, I need time to recharge after the busiest period in my career to date. I know not everyone will understand, and I don't expect them to, but I have to do what I believe is right and playing for my country remains my priority and focus."

To prevent players from withdrawing after being picked in the auction, IPL has introduced a strict rule: If a player registers for the auction, gets bought by a franchise, and then withdraws before the season starts, he may face a two-year suspension from both the IPL and future auctions.
