IPL 2024 Qualification Scenarios For All Teams Ahead Of RCB vs GT IPL 2024 Match 52

IPL 2024 Playoffs race is nearing its climax, with some teams already facing the inevitable elimination from contention. Ultimately, only top 4 teams in IPL points table will progress to playoffs.

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season approaches its crucial stage with 51 matches completed, the competition for IPL 2024 playoffs has intensified. With table-toppers Rajasthan Royals (RR) leading the IPL 2024 points table with 16 points and Kolkata Knight Riders following closely with 14 points, they seem poised to secure the top two positions by the end of the league stage matches. However, the battle for the remaining third and fourth spots is fiercely contested among the remaining eight teams.

Ultimately, only the top four teams in IPL 2024 points table will progress to IPL 2024 playoffs.

IPL 2024 Playoffs race is nearing its climax, with some teams already facing the inevitable elimination from contention. Ahead of RCB vs GT IPL 2024 match, let's have a look at IPL 2024 playoff qualification chances of all 10 teams.

A team typically requires at least 16 points to have any chance to qualify for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Playoffs.

Rajasthan Royals: Rajasthan Royals hold the number one spot in IPL points table with 16 points. Despite their strong position, RR have not yet officially qualified for IPL 2024 playoffs. RR have 4 matches remaining, even a single victory in any of these four matches will guarantee their place in IPL 2024 playoffs.

Kolkata Knight Riders: KKR are on verge of securing a spot in IPL 2024 playoffs, with 14 points from 10 matches. Mumbai Indians (MI) have to play 4 more games. By winning just 2 of these matches, MI can officially secure a playoff berth. However, even winning just 1 match could keep their playoff hopes alive, given their superior net run rate (+1.098).

Lucknow Super Giants: LSG currently occupying third position in points table with 12 points from 6 wins. For LSG, their next 4 matches -  KKR, SRH, DC, and MI - are crucial. To solidify their playoff chances, LSG need to win at least 3 out of these 4 matches. If LSG manages to win just 2 of these 3 matches, their qualification fate will hinge on the results of other teams.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad have won 6 out of their 10 matches and currently hold the 4th position in IPL 2024 points table with 12 points. SRH's remaining four matches are against MI, LSG, GT, and PBKS. Sunrisers Hyderabad need to win at least 3 out of these 4 matches to solidify their chances of making it to IPL 2024 Playoffs. If SRH only manage to win 2 out of their remaining 4 matches, their playoff hopes will depend on the performance of other teams.

Chennai Super Kings: With 10 points from 10 matches, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have won 5 matches and lost 5. If CSK manage to win in all their remaining 4 matches, they will reach a total of 18 points, securing a playoffs berth. However, if CSK lose even one match, their chances of making it to IPL 2024 playoffs will depend on the performance of other teams, making their qualification uncertain.

Delhi Capitals: DC have 10 points with 5 wins from their 11 matches. Even if DC win their remaining 3 matches, they will reach the crucial 16 points-mark. DC's net run rate stands at -0.442, putting them behind Chennai Super Kings in points table, who also have 10 points. Even if Delhi Capitals win all their three remaining matches to accumulate 16 points, their qualification for IPL 2024 playoffs will remain uncertain, depending upon the performance of other teams.

Punjab Kings: PBKS have 8 points after winning 4 out of their 10 matches. If Punjab Kings win their remaining four matches, they will reach 16 points. However, similar to Delhi Capitals, their qualification for IPL 2024 playoffs will still be uncertain as they will have to rely on the performance of other teams.

Gujarat Titans: GT are facing an uphill battle to secure a IPL 2024 playoff spot, finding themselves in a situation akin to Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. With 4 wins out of 10 matches, GT currently sit in the eighth position in points table with 8 points.

GT's net run rate is considerably worse than the aforementioned teams, standing at -1.113. Even if Gujarat Titans manage to reach 16 points by winning all their remaining matches, qualifying for the playoffs will be an almost impossible task due to their poor net run rate.

Mumbai Indians: MI's disappointing IPL 2024 campaign has come to an end after their defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 3. With 8 losses out of 11 matches and only 6 points to their name, Mumbai Indians are now virtually out of IPL 2024 playoff race and are soon expected to be officially eliminated from contention.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: RCB's struggles continue as they find themselves at the bottom of the points table once again in IPL. Like Mumbai Indians, RCB has won 3 out of their 10 matches and lost 7, resulting in a total of 6 points. Even if they manage to win all four remaining matches, they will only reach 14 points. RCB will be officially eliminated once they suffer another defeat.
