'Experience Hai, Jawaani Nahi': Kapil Dev Feels Dhoni Won't Be As Effective As He Used To Be In IPL 2021

Kapil Dev feels MS Dhoni won’t be as effective as he used to be due to the age-factor. Do you agree with the World Cup winning captain?

From one World Cup winning captain of India to the other, Kapil Dev has criticized MS Dhoni and feels he would not be as effective as he used to be in the 2000s. Kapil Dev was speaking on the ‘Wah Cricket’ show of ABP News. When G.S. Vivek asked Kapil Dev whether the audience be able to see the MS Dhoni of late 2000s again, to which Kapil Dev said, “There’s only 10% chance of that happening. We won’t see the Dhoni of 2008 again, that was a different time.”

Kapil Dev didn’t stop there. He said, “MS Dhoni’s cricket has changed a lot and it is not the same as it used to be. 60% of his stamina to perform is not there, he’d be able to deliver only on the 40% of what he used to be capable of.”

Kapil Dev also gave a logic to his claims and prediction about Dhoni. The 1983 World Cup winning captain said that Dhoni has not been a regular player anymore and to expect him to perform to his zenith would not be a wise thing to do. “Will he (Dhoni) be able to soak so much pressure? Had he been playing all forms of the game regularly, then I would have agreed. To not play for an entire year and to play just for a month or two is not easy. It’s difficult to get back in rhythm in cricket if you are not a regular,” Kapil Dev said.

“Experience hai, Jawaani nahi, (There’s experience, but no youthfulness)” he concluded.

Kapil Dev was also talking about the opening match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore where he felt that Mumbai have an upper hand despite RCB’s brilliant batting line-up.

Kapil Dev also spoke about Rishabh Pant’s new role as the captain of Delhi Capitals.
