IPL 2020: Two Super Overs Happen For The First Time In History As Kings XI Punjab Defeat Mumbai Indians In An Edge-Of-The-Seat Thriller

The first match of the day between SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had also gone into a Super Over. SRH managed just two runs batting first and KKR chased it down with two balls to spare.

It was the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League that two super overs were played in a single match. The first match at Super Sunday was also a Super Over, where KKR defeated Hyderabad. After this, the second match was played between Mumbai Indians and Punjab in which two super overs were bowled. The MI vs KXIP match became the first game in the first T20 game in history to be decided by two super overs. In this match, Mumbai Indians scored 176 for 6 wickets. In reply, Punjab also scored 176 runs for 6 wickets. The match was tied. After this, both the teams scored 5-5 in the first super over and it was also tied. Then in the second super over of the match, Mumbai scored 11 runs for one wicket. In response, Punjab won the match, courtesy Chris Gayle's six and Mayank Agarwal's two fours off Trent Boult's over. First Super Over: In the first super over, Punjab scored 5/2 off Jaspreet Bumrah's over. The pair of KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran came out to bat in the super over. Pooran got dismissed on the second ball and KL Rahul on the last ball. Mumbai got a target of 6 runs. Quinton De Kock and Rohit Sharma came out to bat for Mumbai. Mohammed Shami was given the bowling. Mumbai needed two runs off the last ball, but De Kock got run out trying to take a second run and the super over got tied. Second Super Over: Mumbai scored 11/1 in the second super over. Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya came out to bat. Chris Jordan bowled the over for Punjab. On the fourth ball of this super over, Hardik Pandya was out trying to take a second run. Punjab got a target of 12 runs. Now Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal came to bat from Punjab. Gayle started with a six off Trent Boult's delivery. One run was scored on the second ball. Mayank Agarwal hits back-to-back fours to help his team script history.
