'Scoring Runs Could Be Difficult In The Later Stage Of IPL 2020', Says Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan joined a zoom video conference from UAE and answered the questions from the journalists . The opening batsman from Delhi Capitals said, he was never scared of the corona situation and unlike few other cricketers never had any apprehensions before travelling to Dubai for the IPL.

"In the later stages of IPL scoring runs may not be easier as the pitches might act slow. Overall the performance of batsmen will depend on the nature of pitches in Arab Emirates. Since matches will be played on three grounds and travelling will be less, the body will get more time to recover and that's good for the cricketers", Shikar Dhawan said this to ABP News from Dubai on the question whether less travelling time between the matches will make it easier for the cricketers this year and may help the frontline batsmen to score more . Shikhar joined a zoom video conference from UAE and answered the questions from the journalists . The opening batsman from Delhi Capitals said, he was never scared of the corona situation and unlike few other cricketers never had any apprehensions before travelling to Dubai for the IPL. Shikhar said, " anyways we are following the safety guidelines and have already tested 8/9 times . Moreover we have limited access to travel , so things are absolutely fine . Shreyas Iyer will lead Delhi Capitals this year despite the presence of senior cricketers like Ajinkya Rahane , R Ashwin and Shikhar Dhawan himself. Will he deliver as a captain ? Shikhar said, " he said pretty well . Rahane , Ashwin will definitely share their inputs . Shreyas has an open mind and he tries to learn from both the seniors and juniors of the side ".
Shikhar Dhawan said the Spin attack in presence of Ashwin , Amit Mishra and Axar Patel is very balanced this year , so is their batting . " The whole team should perform this year and we can lift the title ."
On playing in Dubai , the dependable opener from Delhi Capitals said , " I am excited to play in Dubai but I have played here before in Asia Cup and once for the India A side ". There will be no home advantage this year and how crucial this can be for the teams ? Shikhar feels that it could be a balancing factor as every team will play under same conditions .
The opener from Delhi hasn't featured in the Test team for quite a while now but hasn't lost hope either . " I haven't got a chance to play Test cricket for a while now but I am hopeful of making a comeback . Jab tak hath me hathiyar hai tab tak harna nahi hai " .
The bio bubble life is getting very frustrating at times for many cricketers . You can't meet new people, can go to restricted areas only . But Shikhar feels it could be an opportunity as well . " You don't have much things to do and you can focus better as a result . So it could be good for the cricketers ."
