CSK Legend Shane Watson Announces Retirement From ‘All Forms Of Cricket’: Report

Chennai Super Kings did not give Shane Watson a place in the playing eleven of their last league match. Watson played his last IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders on 29 October.

Shane Watson, the player who made Chennai Super Kings champions with his stormy batting in 2018, has reportedly announced retirement. The veteran Australian player will no longer play in the IPL. Watson failed to do anything special in IPL 2020. The veteran has scored 299 runs in 11 matches at an average of just 29.90. Watson scored 2 fifties and his strike rate was 121.05, this season. Watson's average performance as a Chennai Super Kings opening batsman was a talking point this season and as a result CSK could not make it to the IPL playoffs for the first time. The big thing is that a veteran player like Shane Watson could not say goodbye to cricket from the field. As soon as Chennai played their last league match against Kings XI Punjab, Watson told his fellow players that he was retiring from every format of cricket. “Watson was very emotional when he told the CSK dressing room after the last game that he would retire. He said that it was a great privilege for him to play for the franchise,” the source was quoted as saying by TOI. Watson was bought by Chennai Super Kings in the year 2018, this was the year when he said goodbye to international cricket. In the 2018 IPL final, Watson scored a brilliant century, making Chennai Super Kings the IPL champion for the third time.
