'On 26th May...': Gambhir Seemingly Reveals IPL 2024 Final Date As He Sends War Cry In First Speech As KKR Mentor- WATCH
In his first address to the KKR players as team mentor, Gautam Gambhir said that their mission is to win IPL 2024.
Gautam Gambhir, the man who led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to victories in IPL 2012 and IPL 2014, is back with the franchise although in a different role. Gambhir has officially taken charge as the mentor of the side which has not been able to win the trophy even once after Gambhir's reign as captaincy ended. In his first speech as the Team Mentor, Gambhir clearly said that they were training with the mission to win the IPL in mind, in a motivational address to the camp.
The 42-year-old who has requested to be relieved of political duties in order to focus on cricketing commitments asked the players to keep in mind that they were part of a very successful franchise and train with that attitude in mind.
"We start this season from today. Whether it's physically, mentally skill wise, give everything possible. It's a very, very proud and successful franchise."

"You guys are representing a very successful franchise. Make sure you train that way, you play that way and you carry that attitude around the field. That is going to be very, very important. And one thing I absolutely believe in is giving all the freedom to the players. That is something which is very, very important," said Gambhir.
Everyone In This Group Will Be Treated Equally: Gautam Gambhir
As part of the management, Gambhir assured the players that they will be treated equally with the mission of winning IPL 2024.
"So people who played with me will know one thing about me, that everyone in this group will be treated equally. There's no senior junior. There is no domestic, international. So we have got one mission and that is to win this IPL."
"So everyone needs to follow that one simple path. On 26th May, we should be there giving everything possible, and it starts from today. It's not gonna start on the 26th. It's not gonna start on the 23rd," Gambhir said seemingly revealing IPL 2024 final date which hasn't yet been officially announced.
"It starts from today and this is what we want to do. So if we walk the same path and we fight, I'm sure we're gonna achieve a lot of success. So good luck, guys. Have the freedom. Enjoy yourself. You can ask questions, whether close doors, or in front of everyone. And I can assure you, from a support staff point of view, that we're gonna be absolutely honest to every one of you. So, good luck," India's top-scorer of the 2007 T20 World Cup final as well as the 2011 World Cup final stated.
