Dinesh Karthik Vomited On His Way Back After Getting Out vs MI: RCB Head Coach Sanjay Bangar

Sanjay Bangar provided a fitness update on Dinesh Karthik who did not keep wickets during RCB's clash against MI on Tuesday (May 9).

Even though Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) managed to post 199/6 batting first at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the total proved insufficient against a powerful Mumbai Indians (MI) batting unit who chased the total with 21 balls to spare. After their six-wicket defeat, team's head coach Sanjay Bangar also gave a fitness update on wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik who played his part with the bat with an 18-ball 30 but did not turn to keep wickets in the second innings. In his absence, Anuj Rawat donned the wicketkeeping gloves.

Bangar revealed that Karthik was unwell in the match against MI. He was dehyderated and even vomited on his way back the pavilion.

"During the course of the innings, Dinesh Karthik started feeling unwell, he was a bit dehydrated and on his way back he also vomited. There is enough gap for us, maybe three-four days, so with medicine, I think he should be fine. He is an important member for us and he has a big role to play," Bangar said during the post-match press conference.

The 50-year-old admitted that the young players from the RCB camp haven't made as much progress as they would have wanted to barring Mahipal Lomror who has made use of his chances.

"Our young Indian batters are not progressing at a very good rate. Lomror has been someone who has taken his chances well. But somebody like Anuj Rawat or Shahbaz Ahmed, whenever they have got those opportunities, unfortunately, they have not been able to capitalize on it. You have to be patient with younger players and you can perhaps try to relate it to the example of Rinku Singh," Bangar added.

Bangalore will travel to Jaipur to take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) before a trip to Hyderabad for a fixture against Sunrisers (SRH). They will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in their final league game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
