CSK Performs Special Pooja With IPL Trophy At Thirumala Tirupati Temple In Chennai
The management placed the trophy on the feet of Sri Venkateshwara Swami at the temple.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management offered a special prayer with the IPL Cup 2023 at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) temple in T Nagar in Chennai on Tuesday. The management placed the trophy received in the wee hours of Tuesday on the feet of Sri Venkateshwara Swami at the temple.
According to India Today, the CSK management brought the IPL trophy directly from the Chennai airport to the temple. However, no players joined the management for the prayers.
It is reportedly said that it is a customary practice of the IPL team to perform pooja with the IPL trophy at the famous TTD temple in Chennai.
The team also performed a similar pooja during their win in 2021. During the pooja, former Indian cricket board (BCCI) president N Srinivasan and his daughter Rupa Gurunath were also present.
Srinivasan, who is the Managing Director of India Cements, is also the owner of CSK.
On Tuesday, CSK players including head coach Stephen Fleming arrived in Chennai. The players are expected to celebrate the win before heading back to their cities.
Earlier, the CSK team shared a video of their celebrations including captain MS Dhoni cutting a special five-tier cake. The five-tier cake is a symbolism of CSK's win in IPL in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023. This is the fifth big win for Chennai Super Kings despite their suspension for 2 years.
On Tuesday, CSK beat Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
In a thriller match, even after the rain played a spoiled sport, the Lions were given a revised target of 171 in 15 overs. The last two balls demanded 10 runs to bag the trophy. Ravindra Jadeja smashed a six and a four to help Chennai win its fifth IPL tournament.
