Lucknow’s IPL Franchise Gets Official Name, To Be Called Lucknow Super Giants
Star India batter KL Rahul will lead the 'Lucknow Super Giants' in IPL 2022 and the side will be coached by ex-Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Flower.
New Delhi: Sanjiv Goenka, the owner of new IPL Lucknow franchise, on Monday announced the official name of Lucknow IPL team will be 'Lucknow Super Giants'. The fans engagement campaign was launched on social media on 3rd January 2022. Along with the announcement, Sanjiv Goenka also thanked the fans who participated and suggested several options for the official name.

Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, Lucknow IPL team had roped in KL Rahul as captain for Rs 17 crore, and spent Rs 9.2 Crore and 4 Crore, for Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and young uncapped Indian leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, respectively.
Ahmedabad IPL team, on the other hand, named Hardik Pandya(Captain), Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan as their three draft picks for IPL 15. The players' auction for this year's IPL is slated to take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13.
Last year, Sanjiv Goenka-owned RPSG group had purchased the Lucknow IPL team for a whopping amount of Rs 7090 Crores. The other new team, set to make its debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is Ahmedabad who were bought by CVC Capital Partners for Rs 5635 Crores.
