Taslima Nasreen Gets Blasted For Distasteful 'ISIS' Tweet On CSK's Moeen Ali; Author Deletes It Later

Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen courted a distasteful post about Moeen Ali after the cricketer appealed the CSK management to remove the logo of an alcohol brand from the team's jersey.

Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen is once again ruling the headlines for her yet another controversial statement, and this time it is in connection with England cricketer Moeen Ali who is set to make his debut for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Taking to Twitter on Monday, Nasreen courted a distasteful post about Moeen after the cricketer appealed the CSK management to remove the logo of an alcohol brand from the team's jersey. In her post, Nasreen said that England all-rounder would have strayed away to become a terrorist had he not stuck to cricket.

In no time, Twitteratis bashed the author for her stern words against Moeen. The army also included World Cup hero and England pacer Jofra Archer, who responded by wondering what was wrong with the author.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Are you okay ? I don’t think you’re okay <a href="https://t.co/rmiFHhDXiO" rel='nofollow'>https://t.co/rmiFHhDXiO</a></p>&mdash; Jofra Archer (@JofraArcher) <a href="https://twitter.com/JofraArcher/status/1379409054087397377?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" rel='nofollow'>April 6, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

After facing backlash, Nasreen deleted her post and defended saying 'it was sarcastic'.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Haters know very well that my Moeen Ali tweet was sarcastic. But they made that an issue to humiliate me because I try to secularize Muslim society &amp; I oppose Islamic fanaticism. One of the greatest tragedies of humankind is pro-women leftists support anti-women Islamists.</p>&mdash; taslima nasreen (@taslimanasreen) <a href="https://twitter.com/taslimanasreen/status/1379396677514231810?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw" rel='nofollow'>April 6, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Recently, the Chennai Super Kings bought the England all-rounder, who has so far played 19 IPL matches scoring 309 runs and picking 10 wickets, for a whopping Rs seven crore at the 2021 auction in February.

Before making debut with CSK, Moeen Ali requested CSK management to remove the alcohol brand logo from his match jersey due to his faith’s ban on alcohol and the franchise has agreed to his request. The jersey has the logo of SNJ 10000, a surrogate product brand of Chennai-based SNJ Distilleries.
