CSK Approves Moeen Ali’s Request To Remove Alcohol Brand Logo From Match Jersey

The franchise bought the England all-rounder, who has so far played 19 IPL matches scoring 309 runs and picking 10 wickets, for a whopping Rs seven crore at the 2021 auction in February.

Chennai:  England all-rounder Moeen Ali has requested the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management to remove the alcohol brand logo from his match jersey due to his faith’s ban on alcohol and the franchise has agreed to his request.

The jersey has the logo of SNJ 10000, a surrogate product brand of Chennai-based SNJ Distilleries.

The franchise bought the England all-rounder, who has so far played 19 IPL matches scoring 309 runs and picking 10 wickets, for a whopping Rs seven crore at the 2021 auction in February. This is the 33-year-old’s second IPL franchise after Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with whom he played for three seasons.

He had last month expressed his eagerness to playing this season for the CSK under former Indian skipper M.S. Dhoni.

“I’ve spoken to players who have played under MS and they tell me how he improves their game. I believe a great captain does that,” CSK website quoted Ali as saying.

Chennai Super Kings, for the first time ever, will wear a redesigned kit for IPL 2021. The camouflage on the shoulders is a tribute to Indian Armed Forces. The franchise last month took to Twitter to share a video on social media in which MS Dhoni can be seen unveiling CSK's brand-new jersey for the 14th season of the IPL.
