New Delhi: Virat Kohli's dream of leading franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to their maiden title win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was crushed on Monday Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Bangalore by four wickets in the Eliminator match to knock them out of the tournament. Kolkata will now face Delhi in Qualifier 2 on Wednesday and the winning team will take on Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021 final on Friday.
Meanwhile, there was a moment during the match when Virat was seen confronting the umpires. The incident happened in the seventh over of KKR's innings. A delivery from leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal went straight to hit the pad of KKR batsman Rahul Tripathi.
Chahal and other Bangalore players made a strong LBW appeal which was turned down by the umpire. Virat immediately took DRS and on-field umpire Virender Sharma's 'not out' decision was overturned by third umpire Anil Chaudhary. Reacting to this, the RCB skipper first angrily threw the ball on ground before heading towards on-field umpires for an animated discussion.
