Internal Conversation About Captaincy Not For Media: Rahul Dravid On Virat Kohli's Captaincy Controversy

In reply to the question asked to Dravid about team India's white-ball captaincy, he said in a polite-yet-firm manner that his 'internal conversations will certainly not come out in the media.'

New Delhi: The much-awaited India vs South Africa Boxing Day Test (Ind vs SA 1st Test) will be played from December 26 at Centurion. Ahead of the clash of the Titans, team India's head coach Rahul Dravid spoke to the media.

During the virtual presser, Rahul Dravid finally broke his silence on the "Virat Kohli's white ball captaincy controversy".

In reply to the question asked to Dravid about team India's white-ball captaincy, he said in a polite-yet-firm manner that his 'internal conversations will certainly not come out in the media.'

BCCI recently replaced Virat Kohli as team India's captain in white ball cricket after the Delhi-born decided to give up the national squad's captaincy in Twenty20 format.

Kohli, during his pre-departure press conference ahead of South Africa tour, had claimed that he was informed 90 minutes before the Test team's selection for the South Africa tour about his removal as India's ODI captain.

Also another claim by Kohli was in complete contrast to Ganguly's assertion a few days back that the star batter had been requested to not quit as India's T20 skipper.

"To be honest that's the role of the selectors and I am not going to get into conversations that I might or might not have had," when asked if he had given his opinion on change of white ball captaincy, PTI reported.

"It's not the place and the time to be doing that and discussing that. And what internal conversations I have had is certainly not going to come out in the media and I am not going to start telling people what conversations I have had," Dravid said as per news agency PTI.

Dravid also lauded Kohli for his passion for Test cricket and hoped that he would do well in this series.

"Virat has played a huge role in that obviously as a payer and a leader. He has been fantastic. He is one of those players who loves Test cricket and really wants to compete.

"Hopefully, he has great series that benefits the team as well," Dravid said.
