Team India To Tour Zimbabwe Next Month For Three ODIs: Report
Injured star players KL Rahul, Deepak Chahar might make comeback in Windies tour
New Delhi: Team India is touring England these days, after which the Men in Blue will tour West Indies. After the Windies tour, India will be touring Zimbabwe next month where both the teams will be playing a three-match ODI series, Cricbuzz reported. During Indian senior team's one-off Test against England, a second-string Hardik Pandya-led team played a two-match T20 series against Ireland. It is likely that the same Indian second-string team that toured Ireland, will go on the Zimbabwe tour.
In this series, the performance of reserve or junior players can be checked ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022. If this tour happens, India will be touring Zimbabwe for the first time in six years.
Injured star players KL Rahul, Deepak Chahar might make comeback in Windies tour
KL Rahul, the vice-captain of the Indian team, recently underwent surgery in Germany. Now he is in India, working on his fitness. The star batter was ruled out of the five-match T20I series against South Africa due to injury. If Rahul becomes fit till the Asia Cup, then he might be included in the Indian team for the Zimbabwe tour. Another injured Deepak Chahar might also get a place in this series.
The Indian team is playing a lot more T20 cricket so that players can be shortlisted for T20 World Cup. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli is making a comeback in the second T20 against England. The ex-India skipper is going through a bad phase these days across formats. Kohli's place in the Indian team for the Asia Cup to be held in Sri Lanka next month is currently under question. The selectors will keep a sharp eye on Kohli's performance in the two T20Is against England and then finalize the squad for the mega-tournament.
