Ex-Pakistan Skipper Opines On India's Chances Of Defending Asia Cup Title

Salman Butt believes India has great chance of successfully defending its Asia Cup title this year as they have a big pool of talented cricketers.

India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2022: The Indian cricket team will take on Pakistan in Dubai to kick off their Asia Cup 2022 campaign on August 27 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Notably, the last two editions of Asia Cup have been won by team India. Ahead of the Ind vs Pak Asia Cup 2022 clash, former Pakistan captain Salman Butt analyses India's chances of winning the tournament this year. Butt believes India has great chance of successfully defending its Asia Cup title this year as they have a big pool of talented cricketers.

"Yes, they can win the Asia Cup. Do they lack Vitamin C (laughs). The type of cricket they are playing, the pool of players they have, people will consider them as favourites," Butt said in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.

"But then there is Pakistan, who can beat any team on their day. Afghanistan are the dark horse as they can get bowled out easily but can also do the same to other teams," Butt added.

India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan plus a team that qualifies will be part of the Asia Cup 2022. Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) is hosting this year's Asia Cup 2022, but the tournament will be played in the UAE. Asia Cricket Council (ACC) has chosen Dubai and Sharjah for this tournament, where a total of 13 matches, including the final, are to be played in a span of 16 days.

The Indian team will face Pakistan in Dubai on August 28. India's second match will be with the qualifier team in Dubai on 31st August. India is set to face Pakistan and a qualifier team in the group stage. India has Pakistan and a qualifier team in their group, while Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka are in another group.
