'Bringing Culture Into Peoples Opinion Over Mankad?': Ben Stokes Reacts To Harsha Bhogle's Tweets On Controversial Run-Out

A massive controversy erupted on social media after India's Deepti Sharma 'mankaded' England's Charlotte Dean for backing up too far at the non-striker's end during India vs England 3rd ODI at Lords'.

New Delhi: England cricket teams' star all-rounder Ben Stokes strongly retorted to famous Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle criticising English media for their reactions to Indian women's cricket team player Deepti Sharma's run-out of Charlie Dean at non-striker's end. Stokes took to Twitter to refute Harsha' claim, citing English media criticising a non-striker's run-out backing up too far could be a 'cultural thing'.

"Harsha ... bringing culture into peoples opinion over a Mankad?" Stokes wrote in one of his tweets.

"Harsha .. 2019 WC final was over 2 years ago, I still till this day revive countless messages calling me all sorts from Indian fans, does this disturb you? (sic)" Stokes wrote in another tweet.

"Is this a culture thing?? ....absolutely not,I receive messages regarding the overthrows from people all over world,as people all over the world have made comment's on the Mankad dismissal, not just people who are English," he wrote in reply to yet another tweet from Bhogle.

"What about the rest of the worlds reaction to this particular incident? England isn't the only cricket playing nation who have spoken about the ruling," Stokes went on to write.

A massive controversy erupted on social media after India's Deepti Sharma 'mankaded' England's Charlotte Dean for backing up too far at the non-striker's end during Indian women's cricket team vs England women's cricket team third One-Day-international (ODI) at Lords' stadium. With Dean's run-out, team India attained a historic 3-0 clean sweep over England to give legendary seamer Jhulan Goswami a fairy-tale farewell in her last international assignment.
