Two top-ranked teams in the world - India and England - will lock horns against each other in the first T20I on Friday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Even though Virat & o. easily defeated England 3-1 in the Test series, English team can prove to be a big challenge for team India in the T20 series.

10 out of 11 players of the current England T20 team play in the Indian Premier League, and therefore have a lot of experience in playing in Indian conditions.

England look a very strong team on paper, but still the hosts are being dubbed as favourites to win the series-opener.

Talking about head-to-head record, both teams have come face-to-face 14 times in T20 format so far. Both the teams have got seven wins each.

England has played a total of six T20 matches against Team India on the Indian soil and has won three matches and lost three matches.

Team India is currently ranked as number 2 in the ICC rankings. If the hosts win the five-match series 4-1 or 5-0 against England, they will become world's number one T20 team.

India has not lost any T20 series since 2019. Prior to this series, the Men in Blue have won a total of 6 T20 series and have beaten teams like West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, New Zealand and Australia. Team India have won 3 out of 6 T20 series on home soil, while 3 on foregn soil.

If India beats England in the T20 series, then this will be their 7th consecutive T20 series win in 2 years.

Jason Roy and Jos Buttler came out all guns blazing against the Indian bowling attack to power England to a 8-wicket win against the hosts and take 1-0 lead in the five-match T20 series at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. Jason Roy (32-ball 49) top-scored with the bat for visitors and Jofra Archer (3/23) was the pick of bowlers. 

Earlier, England had won the toss and opted to field first. A priceless 36-ball fifty from Shreyas Iyer (48-ball 67) propelled team India to 124/7 against England in their 20 overs. India were completely rattled by the England bowlers who dismissed India's top-four batsmen - Shikhar Dhawan (4), Kl Rahul (1), Virat Kohli (0), Rishabh Pant (21) - within the first 10 overs.

The visitors not only restricted India for 124 runs but also managed to score 89 runs in just 11 overs at the loss of 1 wicket.
